Victor Valerio Sr. and his wife Milagros Valerio, founders of Valerio Bakeshop

Our History

The Valerio family takes pride in their bakery and in the connection it provides to their Filipino heritage. The Valerio family has spoken about the importance of preserving traditional Filipino recipes and passing them down to future generations, and they see Valerio's Bakeshop as a way to do just that.

Valerio's Bakeshop was founded by the late Victor Valerio Sr. (left) and his wife Milagros Valerio (right) in the 1970s. Victor Valerio Sr. was a baker in the Philippines starting in the 1950s making bicho-bicho before he immigrated to the United States bringing his passion for baking and traditional Filipino recipes with him.

Upon immigrating to the US, Victor and Milagros opened their first Valerio's location in 1979 and expanded within San Diego county before venturing out the business with their children and now grandchildren. There are various Valerio's locations that are in operation. However, you can find a real Valerio family member still running the day-to-day operations at any of our locations.

Today, our specific locations are run by Victor and Milagros' daughter, Fanny (back middle) her husband Roberto Sr. (back middle), and their three sons: Philip (middle), Jed (right middle), and Roberto Jr. (right).

Their passion for baking and their commitment to preserving their family culture has made the bakery a beloved institution both locally and nationally.
